The title of the series alludes to David Hammons's\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e Body Prints \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e(1968­–1979), which were made by pressing his own grease-covered body—or that of another person—against a large-scale piece of paper and then fixing the image with powdered pigment. In translating Gale’s work, master printer Leslie Diuguid manipulated screenprinting techniques to evoke the shadowy sheen and textured surfaces of Gale’s etched aluminum drawings. To do so, she printed on Yupo paper, as its synthetic surface is non-absorbent and therefore holds a crisper mark.
