This exercise has highlighted the shared consciousness, depth, and humor that have long driven, and been paramount to, the black experience in America.\u003cspan class=\"im\"\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eTitled after a 1979 piano composition by Julius Eastman–who was known for giving his works intentionally challenging names–\u003ci\u003eEvil Nigger\u003c\/i\u003e is grounded in Eastman and Ligon’s shared affinity as artists and individuals.
